Advanced Throwing
This advanced throwing pottery course is designed for experienced potters who want to refine their skills, expand their techniques, and explore their artistic vision on the wheel.
Through a series of hands-on projects and personalized instruction, students will focus on creating complex forms, mastering consistency, and incorporating advanced techniques such as sectional throwing, altering forms, and adding surface textures.
The course will also delve into functional and sculptural pottery, encouraging students to experiment with larger-scale works and unconventional shapes. Participants will learn to refine their work through trimming, advanced finishing techniques, and glaze experimentation. The final weeks will include preparing and presenting a cohesive collection of work for critique and potential exhibition.
Whether you are looking to perfect your craft or push the boundaries of your artistic expression, this course provides the tools and guidance to elevate your pottery practice. Students should approach with a commitment to exploring their creativity.

Each class will commence with preparing sufficient clay for the session, followed by a demonstration by the tutor. The students will then have supervised wheel practice. The final 15 minutes will be cleaning up the wheel, the tools, the floor, mirror and work surfaces.
This is a practical hands on course in which the student will develop confidence using the potters wheel with close supervision from a tutor who is an experienced thrower.
