Beginners’ Art Club

Curious about different materials and techniques? These casual weekly sessions are an ideal space for creative adventures with the emphasis on fun.

The Beginners' Art Club is an introduction to multiple techniques in a group exploring the Arts for the first time: it is a great environment for you to start finding out what materials you prefer to work with.

When space allows, it is possible to make up any missed classes in the same week by joining another of the Beginners’ Art Club groups in the same week.

Casual creativity for all ages

Each week you will learn the skills required to draw and paint beautiful artworks. Our experienced teachers use a step-by-step approach which allows students to work at their own pace, in a happy, relaxed and sociable environment.

You will learn how to use a range of materials including acrylics, watercolours, oil pastels and pencils, and we encourage you to maintain a sketchbook journal. 

The course covers a broad range of subject matter, from still life compositions, figurative work and landscape and we will cover contemporary and abstract studies.

1. Drawing in the style of a master 25/4/25

Studying and imitating the drawing styles of 3 different artists, and developing your own style

2. Drawing objects using contour lines, and shading techniques 2/5/25

Classical architectural elements / Columns

Black or sepia ink, pen holder and drawing nibs, and or pencil

 

3. The human form/ body dynamics 9/5/25

Study of the human form using classical sculpture as reference

4. Drawing from life 16/5/25

5. Soft pastel/ portraiture 23/2/25

Use this session to finish unfinished work or practice your favourite medium, or carry on with print making techniques
