Description of the workshop
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to create beautiful and functional spoons using red earthenware clay. The session will cover forming techniques, design possibilities, and surface decoration using slipware methods
Workshop Schedule
1. Introduction (10-15 min)

• Overview of the workshop process and materials
• Examples of finished spoons for inspiration
2. Making the Spoons (around 2hrs)
• Rolling out and cutting clay
• Shaping and refining spoon forms
• Discussion on variations in shape, size, and handle designs
• Smoothing and finishing touches
3. Coffee Break (15-20 min)
• Spoons set aside to dry slightly before decorating
• Participants can take a break, chat, and discuss ideas
4. Decorating the Spoons (around 2 hrs)
• Introduction to slipware decoration techniques
• Slip trailing for raised designs
• Painting with slips or underglazes
• Stamping and texturing for added detail
• Hands-on time for participants to decorate their spoons
